Well daylight had barely broken in when many members were on the 1st tee of Gramacho, ready
to give their warm support to the new Captains, Jurg and Beate. Helping them to keep their nerves under control for their Drive In were Vice Captains, Ken Napier and Alison McMahon. First tee time was 7.48 when Captains and Vice Captains started their rounds followed by 18 teams of 4 players. There were a few guests Gernot Lil, guest of Ann and Gernot MacSchmid and Alison and John Lawson, guests of Tracy & Bert. The format was Shamble with 3 drives minimum, 6 maximum, and 2 scores to count. When each team had finished their rounds, they were treated to chicken and chips by the Captains. Thank you, it was very much appreciated. And then the moment of truth arrived .... The length of the Captains Drive .... Captain Jurg’s drive (with shaking legs) was 111.5 meters. Closest guess was won by Hugh Duncan with 111 meters. Captain Beate then took her drive which was 121.6 and the closest guess was Tracy with 120 meters. €320 is the wonderful amount of money which was raised for the Captains Charity www.animalrescuealgarve.com including 30 euros of gifts The generosity of the Captains meant that there were 11 prizes and here are the results 11th 97 points Debbie Pearson, Dorothy Lyttle, Stephen Moore and Pat O’Reilly 10th 98 points Pat Robert’s, Anne Terry, Bob Beatson and John Marshall 9th 98 points on c/b Karen Stanton, Barbro Thorén, Charles Davies and Guy Norgrove 8th 99 points Steph O’Reilly, Peter Hill, Anthony Owen and Paul Manley 7th 99 points on c/b Marina Bessell, Brenda Manley, Clive Dromard and Barry Ribchester 6th 100 points Sue Mortimer, Lynne Badham, Christian Barthel and Ulf Baggstrom 5th 101 points Lorry Dearden, Jo Owen, Jim Stevenson and Chris Dearden 4th 101 points on c/b Ann MacSchmid, Rob Marsden, Gernot MacSchmid and Gernot Lil 3rd 102 points Alison McMahon, Ken Napier, Captain Beate and Captain Jurg 2nd 105 points Juliet Smith, Audrey Rush, John Reid and Chris Wallace 1st 108 points Tracy and Bert Brett and their guests Alison and John Lawson.
