Only one more Sunday Funday until the end of 2924 ... The year has flown by..
There were 3 guests, Pamela and Olivier Mouries (owners at the Academy) and Chris Tyrell making it 42 players. And for the penultimate game, our Lady Captain had chosen an unusual format (not unusual). 2 scores on all holes, double your points on even holes and triple your score on hole 3 (today being the 3rd Advent day in the religious calendar). No one could predict what the winning scores would be ! So here are the results Nearest the Pin in 1 - hole 15 - Pamela Mouries Nearest the Pin in 3 (hole 4) Ian Wylie 6th 134 points Audrey Rush, Alison McMahon, Ken Napier and Chris Tyrell 5th 135 points Jean Pledge, Robert Lench, Gina and David Beadle (who unfortunately had to retire after 7 holes) 4th 138 points Bernadette Barrow, Marjory Forsyth, Barry Ribchester and Mike Pledge 3rd 144 points Bert Brett, Kevin Crowe and Captain Jurg 2nd 148 points Liz Reid, Maren Barthel, Klaus Falkenberg and Keith Roberts 1st 154 points Pamela Mouries, Neil Stanton, Josh de Raij and Alison McMahon as hidden partner Barry Harris (or should we say Finbar Hanaghan) was at the club selling his latest book and Mientje de Goeij -de Rooij who had designed the cover for the book was then given the dedicated book of poems and short stories. And our Lady Captain thanked Jurg, Kris and MP for their weekly support. So until next week Bye for now MP

56 players, one guest David Legge all taking part in an interesting format chosen by our Lady Captain.
But first of all, looking at weather forecast 🥶temperature of 10 feeling like 5 degrees ... some members were dressed for winter, some were still thinking it was the middle of summer ... Anyway the format was shambles (minimum 3 drives, maximum 7) with traffic lights ie red followed by yellow and then white, all players playing from the same tee. One score on Par 3, 2 on Par 4.and 3 on Par 5 !!! Challenging or what !!! 3 scores of the white tee on the 18th hole might have been a step too far for many ladies ... But we all coped ! So prizes ? Nearest the Pin in 1 (hole 5 of yellow tee): Linda Cooke Nearest the Pin in 2 (hole 16 of the red tee..)with Gavin’s drive and Guy pitching in the hole in 2 and yes that is an eagle !!! The other members of the team did not get a chance to put !!!! 6th 85 points Debbie Williamson, Bernadette Barrow, Rob Lench and Paul Manley 5th 85 points on c/b Brigitte Selighini. Steph O’Reilly, Bert Brett and Robin Hadden 4th 87 points Karen Stanton, Anne Terry, John Reid and Kevin Crowe 3rd 90 points Michaela Krug, Marjorie Forsyth, Paul Barrow and Rob Marsden 2nd 93 points Steve Moore, Christian Barthel, David Legge and Jurg Kernen 1st 93 points on c/b with 49 points on back 9 against runner up (47points) Linda Cooke, Pat Roberts, Guy Norgrove and Gavin Mortimer. Due to a slight arithmetical mishap, bottles were exchanged between the first and second team.🤔😥 Then our Lady Captain put a few items for auction as Christmas is getting closer ! A large photo frame was bought by Keith Robert’s (€50) A champagne cork puller went to Uli (€35) All money will go to the Captains Charity. So until next week Bye for now MP After a classic game of Matchplay, Kevin was successful in beating Hugh by 2&1 in this year’s final. Commiserations to Hugh, congratulations to both for making the final and providing such a good match to referee.
Hugh was giving Kevin two shots in the match and after 3 holes, Hugh was 3UP. By the turn Hugh was 1UP and the match turned on a couple of holes with Kevin making a great putt on 17th to halve the hole and win. Thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s competition. We raised 300 Euros to charity, with the prizes being donated by myself. Hope you see you all competing next year. Kind Regards Ken NAPIER Our lovely Captains, Beate and Juerg, provided some wonderful refreshments at the first tee for the players in the competition. Festive biscuits, stollen and warm sausage rolls were quickly devoured, washed down with a choice of gluwein or Prosecco. Wonderful! We had 41 players participating, most of whom were decked out in very colourful Christmas gear, some were a little more creative than others. We had a human Christmas tree, snow people and a number of elves, to name just a few outfits. Some chose to wear Christmas jumpers, which proved to be an ill-advised choice given the beautiful weather in the afternoon. Many were seen to be stripping off hats etc. once they completed the first hole! The buggies were equally colourful, with garlands of tinsel, ropes of lights and decorations and various creatures adorning some of the vehicles. Our festive display attracted the attention of many passing motorists and other golfers; I think we all appeared in a number of social media sites, judging by the photos being taken! The golf format was individual Stableford, using only 3 clubs and a putter for the game. Many of us agonised over which clubs to take, with an absolute certainty that if you didn't take your sand wedge then you would definitely need it! And of course, vice versa 😁 The prize winners are as follows: Best Buggy Theresa Russell and "Rusty" , winning a bottle of wine Best Outfit Lady's winner : Sue Mortimer, winning a bottle of wine Gent's winner : Bert Brett ( impressive snowman!) winning a bottle of wine Joint winner : Gavin Mortimer (chosen as the "coolest" outfit) winning a bottle of wine Golf competition winners 3rd place : Ian McMahon (on countback), 18 points, winning chocolate 2nd place : David Lightburn, 18 points, winning chocolate 1st place : Karen Stanton, 19 points, winning chocolates Karen felt she played so well in her reindeer costume that she might wear it more often. We look forward to that! Congratulations to all the winners and well done to Beate and Juerg for such an entertaining afternoon. A great time had by all. Alison McMahon Lady Vice Captain Today was the second of the major Christmas event, the Hampers Competition.
52 players were competing for 5 hampers beautifully prepared by Kris Van der Zee, our light hearted creative project member as she calls herself. Great title 👍 Our Captain Jurg thanked Sue Mortimer, our Deputy Competition Secretary who was in the background checking all the cards as they came as the prize presentation was made after the competition. Captain Jurg also thanked Kris for her wonderful help. But what about the prizes ? A lovely present was given to Jane Conyers for joining in and doing her best, although not a winning score ... And now 5th 36 points Richard Conyers 4th 37 points Gavin Mortimer 3rd 38 points Guy Norgrove 2nd 38 points on c/b Lorry Dearden 1st 38 points on c/b Steph O’Reilly Great day, great weather and tomorrow Fancy Dress 3 clubs and a putter 9 holes competition at Gramacho. Well unfortunately no turkey 🦃 , no chicken 🍗and no sausages (guessing what their fate would be) as they had all decided to do a runner ... luckily their friends wine 🍷 and chocolate were happy to take their place ... although winning teams 1, 2 and 3 did get some vouchers from the « German » butcher (€20, €15 and €10 respectively) as well as wine. So here are the winners on a very enjoyable day Nearest the pin (hole 10): Steve Moore Nearest the pin in 2 (hole 14): Mark Williamson 6th 84 points Tracy Brett, Anneka Edlund, Barry Ribchester and Guy Norgrove 5th 85 points Jean Pledge, Marilyn Lightburn, Dave Lightburn and Hugh Duncan 4th 85 points on c/b Sandra Northey, Judy Lench, Alison Hudson and Robert Lench 3rd 87 points Anne Terry, Juliet Smith, John Hudson and Pat O’Reilly 2nd 88 points Maren Barthel, Steph O’Reilly, Neil Stanton and John Reid 1st 94 points Lorry Dearden, Susan Cunningham, Chris Dearden and Shaun Cunningham Kris Van der Zee presented the Captains with €910 for their Charity, thanks to all her wonderful cards, and many creative projects done during the year which made up to €812. €98 was the amount donated by players on Tuesdays.
