Captains' Charity 4BBB - Sunday 17 November 2024 - Gramacho

he annual charity event kicked off with a very lively evening on Friday 15th November at Gramacho clubhouse. We enjoyed an incredible light show, thanks to a particularly fierce
thunderstorm, which seemed to pass right overhead but it did not dampen anyone's spirits. As many of us tucked into the food arranged by Jill O'Connell, the draw for the competition started. Kris van der Zee had prepared the participants' names and Beate and Juerg supervised the draw. I frantically wrote the names on the betting sheet as the draw progressed. Lots of "oohs" and "aahs" and giggles as the players were drawn , followed by some very enthusiastic betting from all attendees.


Fortunately, the weather was much kinder on Sunday morning, and Kris turned up early to take more bets from the players who were unable to attend Friday evening. We had 19 flights participating, a total of 76 players, a great turnout for the event. Lots of good natured banter as the players gathered at the 1st, with some prayers that the weather would hold. It did! 

The results were as follows:

4th place: Lisa Henderson + Richard James (guest), 47 points, winning lovely chocolates.
3rd place: Debbie Williamson + Kevin Crowe, 47 points, winning even more chocolates.
2nd place: Steph O'Reilly + David Lightburn, 48 points, winning beautiful hampers.A
1st place: Michaela Krug + Ulf Baggstrom, 48 points, winning an impressive wine presentation box, with a lovely bottle of wine and complementary tools.

Many congratulations to all the winners, well played! 

A total of 916€ was collected of which half goes to the Captains' charity and the other half to the members betting on the winning teams.
